European Tour 3 – Cool yoga
Day 30. May 11. Wednesday.
This morning I had a lucky, private somatic Yoga session with Sylvie, and she is incredible. As she is trying to get settled and re-establish herself in Truro after being away for 6 years, a slogan came to me for her: “You’ll feel the difference,” because it’s true. She pays attention to every little movement of every little muscle, and it is amazing how much most Yoga teachers miss.
Just before we left to go out I received an email from Holly to all the EPT4 participants with a gift for me—a gorgeous slide show she put to what turned out to be our EPT4 theme song, “That’s What Friends are For,” compiled from the pictures taken by all participants. I was standing in Sylvie’s kitchen, the only place in the house internet is available, watching this, with tears running down my cheeks. I was so moved. I absolutely loved it! Thank you so very much to Holly and to all EPT4 participants. It would have meant a lot to me anyway because back in my old days before anything was digital I use to make slide shows put to music—but this was extra special.
Then Sylvie and I went off to a very foggy, misty beach at Porthowan, walked around the beach and beautiful, if slippery, boulders for a while, then walked up high on the cliffs overlooking the ocean. It was so surreal up there because you could barely see the ocean way, way down below. Absolutely beautiful!
Then we went to grab a quick bite to eat, but before we went in Sylvie once again bumped into people she knows from before she left who were really nice people. One was having problems with her 13 year-old daughter, so I offered to send her a copy of Parenting from the Heart. Sylvie said I had to have the carrot cake at this restaurant, so that was my lunch, with a hot chocolate, and it really was about the best carrot cake I’ve ever had, and carrot cake is my favorite. Gluten be damned; when you have something that good it’s worth a little suffering later. That evening Sylvie cooked dinner for a good friend of hers, Colin and me. Good guy.
I decided to stay here through Saturday and miss the first day of the conference because of lack of a place to stay up there. But Chantal came through and offered her place to me from Sunday through Monday or Tuesday nights.
