Euro4: A scenic drive
November 18, Friday
Another gorgeous day, both weather-wise and doing/being-wise. I’d kind of had my fill of hanging out with groups for a while, even though they are wonderful, and needed a break, so Holly and I took a scenic drive together. I had picked up a book called something like the World’s Most Scenic Drives, and I was shocked to see that one of them went from Albir northwest into the mountains then back around through Altea. We did it in the opposite direction, or at least as close to it as I could remember, and it really was beautiful.
We stopped in Guadalest, which I always think is great, albeit way over-touristy and then headed off into parts I’ve never been. We stopped to walk around in the Garden of the Saints, and even though we didn’t see any gardens or any saints, it was really nice in there, and we were the only ones there.
We cut our trip a little short because of obligations—where we inadvertently ended up driving into an outdoor market that was just setting up in a narrow roadway, and they wouldn’t let us out! They told us we couldn’t leave for another hour, but after begging, pleading and insisting, they finally took pity on us and let us out. Weird!
Both Holly and I are adventurous spirits so we really traveled well together and had a wonderful time.
Then I went back to deal with a sticky personal situation, which was difficult, but later I saw the way out through the good ol’ Three Principles. Then I went over to the hotel VIVA is being held in to have a presenter’s meeting—many people have started to show up and I was so happy to see friends like Rudi and Mette Louise and others—and of course Gabriela again.
Finally I had a much-needed massage with Amanda for my hurting legs, then scooted back to my hotel for dinner. Another great day!
