European Tour #3 – Ego boost at the 3P conference
Day 35. May 16. Monday.
The conference was great today; I had a great day there. When we were driving in I said to Chantal, I feel like I’ve got to brace myself for the onslaught. And that’s exactly what happened. At a conference like this so many people come up to me and thank me for writing my books, and then there were people from EPT2, 3 & 4, whom I loved seeing again, and lots of others who want to stop me and talk.
And then a really nice thing happened when Sally from EPT4, a recovered alcoholic (and I used that term on purpose) got up to speak about the difference in her life now, and she thanked me specifically and said she loved me from up on stage. Made my eyes moist. Warmed my heart.
Afterwards I told her how much I appreciated that, but I didn’t know whether it was my ego talking or just something beyond, and she said I could use a little dose of a bigger ego because I didn’t have any. Even though it’s not true it was really nice to hear.
At first, though, I had to get over the fact that the conference bookstore wasn’t carrying any of my books! (except my children’s book). They had all these other books by other authors there but not any others of mine. I had thinking about that that wouldn’t allow me to pay attention to Chip Chipman, the speaker, for a while, but then got over it. Chip gave a great talk. Then I had a nice talk with George [Pransky], and then George and Elsie [Spittle].
But one of the highlights was when Debbie and Guy came up to me. Suddenly I have such warm feelings for Debbie for introducing Robin and me. She apparently has great taste.
I got three invitations to go to dinner with three different groups tonight, all of which I wanted to do but it’s too far back to Chantal’s house for someone to drive me, so I passed and just rode home with Chantal, which was also very nice.
I meant every word Jack you are the most humble person. I always feel at peace with you. You light up the room just with your presence.
Love and gratitude always.
