European Tour Day 20: Off to Germany
Day 20, March 19.
After a night where I couldn’t sleep very well—too much gluten, I think—Fredrik brought me to the train station early, then went from Lund to Copenhagen where I negotiated the train system and got on the train to Leubeck, Germany.
I was wondering how the train would get across the huge body of water from Denmark to Germany, and I was amazed that the entire train went onto a huge ferry—we all had to get out and got back in at the other end in Germany—and on to Leubeck.
When I got out of the train Andrea Wolansky and Katja Symons from my Spain EPT (Extended Professional Training) came bounding up to me. It was like being greeted by old friends. They took me to the very nice town of Ratzeburg—Andrea lives in a nice little village near it called Kulpin, where they put me up in the best hotel I’ve been in on this trip, on a beautiful lake.
The first thing I noticed about Germany was that fewer people speak English here than any other country I’d been in so far.
We had a very German lunch of fried, breaded schnitzel and fried potatoes, and I realized if I kept eating that way I’d never get out of Germany alive. I turned in early ready for an all-day training tomorrow.
