Jack Pransky’s Three Principles European Tour #3
WELCOME TO THE JACK PRANSKY THREE PRINCIPLES EUROPEAN TOUR #3 BLOG, APRIL-JUNE, 2016
TOUR 3 BEGINS
April 12. I can’t believe I’m off again on another two month trip to Europe. This one will be very different. My first occurred because Amy, my love of 10 years and I took a hiatus and I did not know what would await me upon my return. My second occurred as Amy and I were splitting up after spending another beautiful 7 of 8 months together, so at times I was pretty much a mess. Now it has been about a year since then and this is the first time I am truly on my own. This time I am leaving from my new home in Florida, instead of from Vermont. All very different.
My plane was not leaving until nighttime so I met up with my son, Dave, who plays bass in the Columbian Latino band, Locos Por Juana. He spent his day recording and doing interviews in preparation for their soon to be released new CD. I was supposed to join him as an observer for the festivities but I got a late start; too much to do to be sure my new condo was all squared away and that I had everything I needed for two months on the road. Dave had been keeping one of his cars in my condo guest spot, so I drove it down to him. Dave was still doing interviews when I arrived, and his girlfriend, Josie, greeted me. Then Dave came bopping in all excited. He had with him recordings of the last two tracks the band laid down. He has played in some wonderful bands over the years but this was on a whole ‘nother level. If this album by Locos Por Juana does not get nominated for a Grammy in a Hispanic/Latino category I will eat my hat; it was that good! I was amazed. My own son. I’m so proud of the boy (who isn’t a boy at all since he just turned 40!—another extremely hard thing to believe).
Dave drove me to the airport and after going through security while waiting at the gate I called my daughter, Jaime, and my 11 year-old granddaughter, Eden and had a real nice talk with both of them. Jaime is also recording a CD, hers of flute music. Musical kids! Real proud of her, too.
So now I’m sitting on the plane writing this. Just watched the movie, Brooklyn, which I enjoyed very much. I should be trying to go to sleep but I decided to begin my blog instead. This trip I’m going to Spain, Mallorca, Scotland, England, Denmark, maybe Sweden, and Greece. This trip I built in much more holiday time, because two months is a really long time to be away. People asked me if I had trepidation about going to Europe now with such a terrorism threat after Paris and Brussels but, no, I don’t at all. The way I feel about it is if it’s my time it’s my time, and if it isn’t it isn’t. I refuse to live my life in fear. New adventures await.
Time to try to sleep…
