EuroTrip Blog, October 25 & 26
Friday, October 25. The first day of training. This is by far the largest group we’ve ever had in a circle because not everyone can fit, and we needed Katja, Sheela, Lili, Sally and Lise to sit on the outside because they had the most experience. Basically, what we did the entire first day was go around the circle one at a time to have people talk about their life journey for how they got to be here at this point in their lives. So we did no teaching that day. The teaching happened through listening. And the feeling that came out was beautiful. During the afternoon lunch break I took my first walk up to the lighthouse, with Laura. We had a nice talk. The water was a gorgeous blue.
Saturday, October 26. Today we got down to teaching business. Gabriela had the brilliant idea to ask people to write down the two things they most wanted to get out of the training for themselves. We consolidated them the night before to see what categories they fell into, then I consolidated them further the next morning before the training and wrote the on the board: Personal Grounding; Conveying the Principles; Deep Listening; Coaching, with a few minor issues, such as being of service, working with couples, working with families, dealing with physical problems, dealing with addictions. We began with the first and third and did our first deep listening activity. I felt we got a little bogged down in the intellect in the evening, but it’s still early. Feeling is still good in the group. At lunch I walked and talked with Sheela along the beach. There is a chiropractor in the group who truly loves his work and offered to give adjustments to anyone who wants them (after signing waiver forms). He’s a Vitality Chiropractor, which is different because he doesn’t do physical adjustments but uses an “activator” tool, which with great speed sends out a little gentle hammer-like thing into the place that needs adjusting. He has very generously adjusted me three different times. My lower back loves him. This evening we all went out to the Asian restaurant to have that always-fun meal, which is also good for group bonding.
