Saturday, May 19. Another beautiful day. Not just the weather, but the company. Miriam drove me to the train station, mostly to see where I had to walk to get back, and I took the train into Victoria station, got on the underground, switched tube lines, and got off at Marylebone, where I met another good friend, Janet Rhynie. Janet and I just happen to have a close connection. We see each other about once a year, and it’s always really nice and fun. First she took me for tea in a very fancy hotel restaurant, then we walked and found a Mediterranean restaurant (where I had moussaka, which was completely different than the moussaka I had in Greece), and then we walked into Regents Park and sat down in the grass. We talked so much, the time just flew by— almost 6 hours worth. I said goodbye to Janet, then retraced my steps, taking the underground to the train. This time, I got on an express train by mistake, which overshot the Shortlands station by one stop, which meant I had to take the local train back a stop. By this time I was hungry again, and since Miriam was not going to be home because she was taking her kids to a football game, I stopped and had some great fish and chips, before walking home. I love these days meeting old friends, catching up and reconnecting.
