European Tour #3 – Where self-esteem comes from
Day 43. May 24. Tuesday.
Unlike the night before I had a good night’s sleep, although still an hour or two less than I would have liked because I had to get up early. Susanne and I ate an early breakfast so we could get me to the 8:00 AM ferry, about an hour away.
We had a nice talk about where self-esteem comes from
just thoughts about ourselves that we believe from the past but have no meaning now unless we give them meaning, and how it is wise to simply notice such thoughts coming in from habit, know they’re irrelevant and let them blow on out and not take root.
I had a real nice visit in Skagen. Susanne was so nice to me! The ferries around here, like in Greece and unlike the States, are more like cruise ships—took about 3 or more hours. I spent my time happily writing and didn’t even notice the time go by, but suddenly we were docking in Gothenburg, Sweden, and upon embarking there was Richard Rolf’s smiling face meeting me at the other end.
I told Richard I had to buy a jacket and tie for Oslo, so he took me shopping. We had a very creamy ice cream cone for lunch. Then another hour and a half drive to Richard’s boat, where we met the lovely Kim, Richard’s most-of-the-time girlfriend, and another 15 minute boat ride to his island—the whole thing a big travel adventure, which I really enjoy, but I’m looking forward to stopping for another couple of days.
I had a wonderful time talking with Richard and Kim. Kim forgot to bring the fish onto the island, our supposed main course meal, so she spontaneously cooked up a really tasty meal of eggs, rice and vegetables. I really like this little island. In his house Richard has a mini-recording studio and his woodworking shop where he makes his instruments. He’s amazing at both playing them and making them. I am very happy to be visiting here.
