Summer book writing report
Hi All,
I know it’s been a really long time since I’ve written anything here, but it has been an extremely busy time. You’ll see why when I bring you up to date on the latest happenings of the Center for Inside-Out Understanding (a.k.a me : )).
After spending a delightful time during the bulk of the summer at Nantasket Beach near Boston, mostly on my own personal writing retreat, I am happy to report that I completed my new book enough to get it into the hands of two editors and send it out to some people for endorsements. I’ve been writing on this book, Seduced by Consciousness, for about three years, and it is not only a Three Principles book but it is also a very personal (and sometimes embarrassing) story about me and some of the very human difficulties I’ve gotten involved with despite what I allegedly know about the Principles. It also brings you inside many coaching and counseling sessions I conduct with clients and others. My intention is for Seduced… to be out by Christmas but I wouldn’t take that to the bank because I’m always wrong about these things. I’m excited (if nervous) about it.
Meanwhile, I am finally closing in on the final editing of the audiobook version of Somebody Should Have Told Us!. I use my own voice and, not being a professional, I made a ton of mistakes—it was so much harder to read my own book into a voice recorder than I thought it would be—most of which are in the process of being fixed. I also made the mistake of recording it by the ocean which, while offering a very calming background effect, proved to be an editing and production nightmare, and some things are still being worked out. What I lack in professionalism I hope I make up in heart.
Speaking of professional, at the same time, Modello and Parenting from the Heart are also being turned into audiobooks by the wonderful Risa Rae. So when one comes out the other two won’t be far behind. Risa is far more proficient at this than I am, and I love the sound of her soothing voice. Those two will be far more professional-sounding than Somebody….
Finally regarding books, a couple of reminders:
Our children’s picture book, What is Wisdom (and Where Do I Find It)?, coauthored by Amy Dalsimer and illustrated by Tina DuSablon—the sequel/companion book to What is a Thought? (A Thought is a Lot)—is now available for purchase. Like What is a Thought?… it combines a learning experience beyond simply the book story by providing a wealth of age-appropriate questions upon which children can reflect and expand their knowledge of how things work within them. It’s a great gift for the kid in all of us.
I also will put in another plug for Paradigm Shift, the book about Three Principles understanding history and development. I believe everyone involved with the Three Principles should purchase a copy of this book. I can say that because not a penny goes to me; all proceeds go to support the Three Principles Global Community (3PGC), and they do so much for all of us. Let’s support them! Besides, it’s an interesting read and answers a lot of historical questions.
I will write about upcoming retreats, seminars, conferences and the like later on.
With love to all,
Jack
